We would like to welcome you to our wonderful home, a place steeped in history

Some of the history of the house:-

The Turret was an after thought which was installed in 1912, over half a century after the Manoir was built.  The original metal fence which is shown in historical pictures from the early 1900's is still in it's same position in the front garden.

According to local history, the house has previously been owned by the Head Pharmacist of Montguyon, a Justice of the Peace and a Mayor of Montguyon.

Montguyon is a picturesque commune located in the southern part of the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France.  Nestled at the confluence of the Charente, Gironde and Dordogne departments, it lies approximately 55km from both Bordeaux (45 minutes) and Angouleme (1hour).

Château de Montguyon     Dating back to the 11th century, the Château de Montguyon is a significant medieval fortress. It played a pivotal role during the Hundred Years' War, notably in 1451 when French forces reclaimed it from English control. The castle has hosted notable figures, including King Henry IV. Although partially destroyed by lightning in 1793, restoration efforts have preserved its remnants, and it is now classified as a historical monument.

La Pierre Folle     This impressive Neolithic dolmen is considered the most majestic megalith in the Charente-Maritime department. Comprising a covered alley and dolmen constructed from local sandstone, it was saved from destruction in the 19th century and has been protected as a historical monument since 1889.

Église Saint-Vincent    The Romanesque church of Saint-Vincent, dating from the 11th century, stands as a testament to Montguyon's rich religious heritage.
